Tricolour unfurled at government offices

The 66th Republic Day was celebrated at various government offices and undertakings in the city on Monday with enthusiasm.

At the Puducherry Khadi and Village Industries Board (PKVIB) head office on Kamarajar Salai, Chief Executive Officer P. Malathi Kalivarathan unfurled the national tri-colour.

The Commissioner of Central Excise hoisted the tri-colour at the Central Excise office on the Beach Road.

Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy hoisted the national flag at the B.R. Ambedkar administrative building to mark the republic day celebrations. Mrs. Krishnamurthy appealed to the teachers to take the lead and contribute for the welfare of the society.

Our Cuddalore correspondent writes: Gaiety and patriotic fervour marked the Republic Day celebrations held in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts on Monday.

Cuddalore District Collector S. Suresh Kumar hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the Anna Stadium. He honoured freedom fighters and gave away Chief Minister’s medals to police personnel in recognition of their good services.

Assistance

The Collector disbursed welfare assistance worth Rs 23.51 lakh to 146 beneficiaries. At Villupuram, District Collector V.Sampath unfurled the nation flag and inspected the guard of honour.

He gave away welfare assistance worth Rs 18.17 lakh to 13 beneficiaries.
