A transgender was found murdered with injuries on her head at Ayanampalayam village on Villupuram-Gingee road here on Wednesday. The police gave the name of the victim as Abhi alias Abiramani, 35, of Virudhachalam in Cuddalore district.
Locals found the body of the transgender on the roadside at Ayanampalayam and alerted Villupuram taluk police. The body bore deep wounds on the neck and head.
Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar inspected the scene of crime. The body was retrieved and sent for post-mortem to Government Medical College and Hospital at Mundiyambakkam.
The motive behind the murder was not known immediately, though the police were inquiring in different angles, including dispute between transgenders or financial dispute.
Three special teams had been formed to nab the culprits.
