Three persons sustained severe injuries when a multiple collision — involving a bullock-cart, a town bus and a lorry— occurred at Maruvai Narikorava Colony on the Vadalur—Chidambaram road near here on Saturday.

Antonysamy (48) of Xavier Nagar near Vadalur along with his friend, Peter, set out on a bullock-cart to buy hay. At Maruvai, a government-run town bus plying on the Vadalur—Chidambaram route rammed the cart, went out of control and collided with an oncoming cement-laden lorry.

In the impact Mr. Antonysamy, bus driver Mohandas of Kolakudi near Bhuvanagiri and lorry driver Rajaraman of Gangaikondachozhapuram suffered injuries. They were rushed to the Kurinjipadi government hospital.

Later, Mr. Antonysamy and Mr Mohandas have been referred to the Cuddalore district headquarters government hospital. The police are conducting enquiries.
