Students and faculty who excelled in research were presented with awards during the “Research Week” celebrations hosted by the Deanery of Research, Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV), Deemed to be University, recently.

The “SBV Research Week” is an annual event for affiliate institutions to motivate research and related activities among students and faculty.

Nadasha Celia Saldanha and Apara Bhuyan, postgraduates from MGMCRI, were winners of the postgraduate podium competition. Sreeparna Roy, Sabari Shanjay and Pournima topped in the undergraduate podium presentation. Devi R. Nithya, Archana Areti and Sukanto Sarkar from MGMCRI were winners in the faculty podium presentation.

S. Ramkumar, Dean, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research, was the chief guest for the valedictory and gave away cash awards.

He appreciated the enthusiasm of participants and efforts of the organisers to promote research.

Cash awards given

During the event, faculty members with the most number of publications were praised. Cash awards were given to guides and students, who did the ICMR — short-term students projects for 2017.

S.C. Parija, Vice-Chancellor, SBV, inaugurated the “Research Week”, organised by the Scientific and Academic Fora of the three constituent colleges of SBV.

C. Adithan, Dean, Research, SBV, and Tarun Kumar Dutta, President, SAF, MGMCRI, participated. Teams from various medical colleges from Puducherry took part in the event. The programmes included intra and inter-collegiate poster and podium competition for undergraduates, postgraduate students and faculty of SBV, students of medicine, dental, nursing and allied health sciences of SBV, Sri Venkateswara Medical College and Research and Indira Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute were present.

In all, 118 postgraduates, 26 undergraduates and 10 faculty members participated.
