Collector L. Subramanian inaugurated a special medical camp for differently-abled people at the Villupuram Collectorate on Tuesday. As many as 67 differently abled people from Tindivanam and Villupuram blocks were identified under 18 years of age in the district during the special camp.

Children with mental disability, visual impairment, and hearing impairment, took part in the camp.

Specialists from ophthalmology, orthopaedics, neurology, ENT, and psychiatry, screened the children and certified them based on the percentage of disability. Those not meeting the eligibility criteria were rejected.

According to an official, as many as 221 applications were received by revenue officials and forwarded to the district level committee. Among the applications 67 were found eligible and the Collector approved monthly pension for them. The second camp will be held in Ulundurpet block on September 17 and as many as 154 children under 18 years of age will be eligible for pension.
