Between martial moves, gravity-defying leaps and armed combat, the artists led the audience along an inner journey to rexamine the purpose of existence, and the futility of conquest.

‘Yodhayanam’ — a presentation by Kalaripayattu exponents — wowed audiences at the Kalarigram, as they joined a warrior’s journey to uncharted territory.

‘Yodhayanam’ showcases the art and the artist.

Personal journey

The crux of the series is to present how life takes the course along with his/her personal journey of being a Kalari warrior.

The traditional Kalaripayattu performance is stitched into a musical narration, taking the audience through the story of Unniarcha and Aaromal Chekavars’ angam (fight), as sung in the old ballads of North Malabar.

Kalarigram will be hosting the show every Saturday, leading up to March 2019.
