Puducherry CM urges banks to promote tourism, industrial sectors

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has appealed to the banks to be more proactive in promoting the tourism and industrial sectors.

Addressing a meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee recently, the Chief Minister said banks should be more proactive in engaging the tourism and industrial sectors, as they had a huge potential to provide employment opportunities. He thanked the banks for their work during the COVID-19 lockdown and their role in reviving the economy, a press release said.

Executive Director, Indian Bank, Ashwani Kumar, in his presidential address, outlined the state of the Indian economy and the performance of the banks. He complimented the banks for extending loans during the pandemic. The banks played a major role in reviving the economy, the release said.

Development Commissioner Prashant Goyal, Secretary (Rural Development) A.S.P.S. Ravi Prakash, District Collector-cum-Secretary (Local Administration) E. Vallavan, Regional Director, RBI, Chennai, S.M.N. Swamy, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Chennai, T. Venkatakrishna and Field General Manager G. Rajeswara Reddy were among those who participated in the event.
