Yet another instance of cheating related to medical admission came to light with the police arresting a person who runs a non-governmental organisation on Friday.

He allegedly failed to obtain seats from a private medical college even after taking hefty sum from the aspirants.

Reddiarpalayam Police arrested E. Kothandraman alias Imanuel (63) on a complaint from Uthralingam of Kirumbakkam who alleged that Kothandraman and four others received Rs. 41 lakh for obtaining two medical seats from Laxminarayana Institute of Medical Sciences.

Only two days ago, it was reported that Tiruchi Police registered criminal case against 11 persons including a former MLA, former director of a college for allegedly cheating Rajendran of Ram Nagar, an ONGC staff.

Mr. Rajendran alleged that the persons took Rs. 28.5 lakh for a medical seat under other State quota to his son during 2013.

But they failed to obtain the seat as promised or return the money.

According to police sources, Kothandraman, hailing from Tirunelveli district also runs a non-governmental organisation in the name of Social Education and Action for Rural Development Trust in Tamil Nadu and also has branch office at Saradhambal Nagar.

A year ago Uthralingam approached Kothandraman through one Divakar, who is the manager of trust for obtaining medical seats from the private college.

He also paid Rs. 41 lakh in three instalments. The accused gave fake confirmation letter to Uthralingam. Even after one year passed, they neither got seats not retuned the money.

Reddiarpalayam Police are on the look out for four more persons who have been absconding.

The police registered the case against them for the offences under Sections -468-(Forgery for purpose of cheating), 420(Cheating), and 506(ii)(Criminal Intimidation) of Indian Penal Code.
