Onam celebrations to culminate on October 25

The Kerala Samajam announced the culmination of its three-month-long Onam festival celebrations with cultural competitions on Sunday and a sports meet on October 25. There will be various competitions in music (light and classical), poetry, elocution, quiz and other categories for children in the cultural competitions on Sunday at the New Modern Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, Muthialpet from 9 a.m. onwards. Celebrations for Ayudha Pooja and Vidyarambham will be held on October 21 and 22 respectively at the Nalini Narayanan Memorial Hall, Kerala Samajam, VOC Nagar.

The sports meet on October 25 will have various track and field events for men and women of different age categories, besides a game of tug of war at the police parade ground, Gorimedu from 9.30 a.m.

This being the 70th anniversary of the Kerala Samajam, anniversary celebrations involving cultural and variety programmes by Malayalis in Puducherry and professional artistes will also be held soon, said the organisation. Those interested in participating in the anniversary cultural programmes can contact the Samajam executive members, said a note.
