Seeking to spread moral values among the masses , an unorganised worker has adopted a novel way — displaying verses from Tirukkural on his tricycle .

S. Damodharan, a loadman from Periyar Nagar writes a couplet of Tirukkural every day on a board tied to his vehicle and rides around the city. The 54-year-old has been on the mission since 2000.

Says Damodharan, “I feel it is a service to society. I am elated when I am writing the couplet on the board. People come and ask the meaning of verse and I explain patiently.”

Even fellow workers would ask him the meaning of the couplets, he adds.

“There are lots of people who read the messages and get some relief from their worries and would share their thoughts with me,” he says.

A few Tamil literary forums have Damodharan for his service rendered to the public in a novel way.
