Officials directed to produce two accused in pipe bomb case

The Principal District Sessions Court on Friday directed the jail authorities to produce the two accused in the case of planting a pipe bomb under the car of former Union Minister of State for PMO V. Narayanasamy a few months ago for collecting blood samples on July 22.

Thiruchelvan, Thangarasu, Kaviarasu and Kalailingam of Sivaganga district who are members of ‘Thamizhar Viduthalai Padai,’ were arrested by the Tamil Nadu Q Branch police in Madurai in March and charged with planting a pipe bomb near the Reliance Supermarket on the outskirts of Madurai.

Confession

During investigation, the accused allegedly confessed to having planted the bomb outside Mr. Narayanasamy’s house in Puducherry as well.

Shortly, two more persons namely- Karthik (40) of Jaihindpuram, Madurai and John Mark of Ramanathapuram were arrested. The case was since being investigated by the National Investigation Agency.

Remand extended

As the period of remand was over on Friday, they were produced before the Principal District Sessions Judge P. Velmurugan who extended their remand by another fifteen days.

Meanwhile, moving an application, NIA sought the permission of the court to collect blood samples from Kaviarasu and Karthik, whereupon the Judge ordered the accused to be produced on July 22.
