Nominations invited for child welfare awards

The Department of Women and Child Development, Puducherry Government, has invited nominations from residents and institutions of the Union Territory of Puducherry for awards instituted by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi, said a press release from the department.

Nominations are invited for the Rajiv Gandhi Manav Seva Award for Service to Children 2015 which recognises individuals who make outstanding contributions towards services for children in the fields of child development, child protection and child welfare. Nominations are also invited for the National Award for Child Welfare 2014 and 2015 in recognition of individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions towards child welfare.

Children with exceptional abilities and outstanding achievements in the field of innovation in any field, scholastic achievements, sports, arts, culture, social service, music and others, can be nominated for the National Child Award for Exceptional Achievements 2015. Children above 9 years and not exceeding 16 years of age as of July 31 are eligible to apply. Applications and guidelines can be downloaded from the website of the Department of Women and Child Development, Puducherry Government (http://wcd.puducherry.gov.in). Completed applications must reach the department on or before June 25.
