Central Footwear Training Institute (CFTI) on Tuesday opened an extension centre at the Motilal Nehru Government Polytechnic.

Education Minister R. Kamalakannan inaugurated the facility, which opens up opportunities of learning from a range of job-oriented courses offered by the CFTI.

As one of the premier training institutes in the footwear sector in India, the CFTI provides job-oriented training and related inputs to develop trained personnel in footwear technology and allied verticals.

Another aim is to generate human resources through advanced training courses to update their skills and knowledge.

The CFTI conducts seven long-term courses in footwear manufacture, design, and technology as diploma, certificate or advanced certificate courses.

An equal number of short-term courses in shoe computer aided design, full show making and finishing and leather goods making are also offered.
