Calling Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy’s statement on the pending file at Raj Nivas on open market borrowing as a “total lie,” Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Wednesday said her office had cleared the proposal for raising loans of ₹ 900 crore.

In a WhatsApp message to reporters, the Lieutenant Governor said a proposal to raise ₹900 crore from the open market was received on September 9 and it was cleared on October 4. “It is a total lie. No other such proposal is pending with us,” Ms. Bedi said.

The Chief Minister at a press conference on Tuesday had accused the Lieutenant Governor of not giving clearance to the government proposal to raise loan from the open market. Mr. Narayanasamy had accused the Lieutenant Governor of not even forwarding the proposal for raising the loan to the Union Finance Ministry.

Ministers in disguise?

Ms. Bedi said she was not holding back ministers from calling on her to discuss issues. “Who is holding back ministers from participating even when they want to come to Raj Nivas to meet. They come at night on a scooter camouflaged and say please do not let you ( Chief Minister) know they came. What rules are these,” she asked.

Responding to Chief Minister's statement that the Lieutenant Governor was not adhering to rules, Ms. Bedi said, “Yes. Rules apply to both. Crude language and derogatory posters and lies are not part of the rules.”
