Minister for Health Malladi Krishna Rao has challenged Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi to reveal the name of ministers who have visited the Raj Nivas in disguise.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Rao said the Lieutenant Governor was indulging in “blatant lies” to deflect attention from real issues.

The Chief Minister had not given any oral or written orders directing Ministers not to call on the Lieutenant Governor. A. John Kumar, newly elected MLA from Kamaraj Nagar, had called on Ms. Bedi to invite her for the swearing-in ceremony, the Minister said.

Mr Rao, who handles the Tourism portfolio, accused her of not giving permission to visit a foreign country for a tourism promotion event. The Lieutenant Governor had given permission following an invite from the Centre but she later recalled the file after visiting Yanam recently. The Minister said he would take up the issue with the Union Tourism Minister. He announced the government decision to procure a new MRI machine worth ₹ 9 crore for the government general hospital.
