Jipmer honours the legacy of its six legendary teachers

NLC education wing organised a Teachers Day celebration

The Department of Medical Education, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer), Puducherry, celebrated Teacher’s Day on Saturday to honour the legacy of teachers who served in Jipmer and have contributed towards making it one among the top ranking Medical Education Institutions in India.

Six former teachers of Jipmer — Dr. L.J. Chandrasekar, Professor of Anaesthesiology, Dr. S. Sankaran, Professor of Medicine, Dr. P. Nalini, Professor of Paediatrics, Dr. Prema Sivasankaran, Professor of Pathology, Dr. N. Ananthakrishnan, Professor of Surgery, Dr. Reddy Rani, Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Dr. K.S. Reddy, Dean, Jipmer were felicitated and honoured at a function hosted at the Jipmer Academic Centre.

Dr. S.C. Parija, Director, Jipmer deemed it an honour to felicitate such legendary teachers. Dr. S. Mahadeven, Dean (Academic) and Dr. J. Balachander, Medical Superintendent also recalled their memories about the legendary teachers.

Dr. Gitanjali Batmanabane, Professor and Head of the Dept. of Medical Education, also participated along with faculty members, residents and students of Jipmer.

At NLC

At the Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Teachers Day celebrations were organised by its education wing.

Vice-Principal S. Anusya of Jawahar Matriculation HSS was presented the “Dr. Radhakrishnan Best Teacher Award”.

82 teachers felicitated

In all, 82 teachers were honoured with special prizes and certificates for their contribution in producing cent per cent results in SSLC and HSC Examinations-2015 conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu. N. Muthu Executive Director (Human Resources) praised the efforts of the teacher in guiding the students to be good citizens of our nation.

He especially highlighted the role of the NLC Education Department and the teachers of NLC Schools in educating the students from the peripheral villages.
