As many as 30 students of a private school had a providential escape when the front axle of the school van they were travelling in detached from the vehicle at Kandanpet near Kirumampakkam near here on Wednesday. Police said the students of a CBSE school in Thengaithittu were on the way to school when the incident occurred.

The van was nearing Kandanpet when the front axle and wheels detached from it. The van driver Kaviarasan lost control of the vehicle and it crashed into a median on the road.

None of the children were injured.

Police rushed to the spot and rescued the students and arranged another vehicle to take them to school. The Kirumampakkam police have registered a case.
