The Ariyankuppam police on Thursday arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a 36-year-old carpenter at Nonankuppam on Wednesday.

The police said the accused Logu alias Loganathan, Yuvaraj, Udhaya and Vivek waylaid the victim Nagaraj while he was riding his two-wheeler to work and hacked him to death.

The police said that previous enmity between the victim and Loganathan was the reason behind the murder.

The victim had helped the accused involved in the murder of a DMK functionary Chandran at Irusampalayam last year.

Loganathan and his associates hatched a conspiracy and eliminated Nagaraj.

The four were produced before a local court and remanded to custody.
