The police on Friday arrested five persons, including a juvenile, and seized 660g of ganja from them.

Police identified the accused as Mohammed Rafi of Thattanchavady, Thamilselvan of Jeevananthapuram, Iyyanar of Shanmuguapuram, Santhosh of Muthirapalayam and a juvenile residing in Puducherry.

Search held

A team led by Inspector of Special Task Force Karthikeyan and Inspector of Mettupalayam Thangamani made the arrest while conducting a search in a secluded place behind Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Kurumampet.

Sold to students

The team conducted the search on receiving a tip off that a few people were using the premises to sell ganja.

Investigation revealed that the gang procured the cannabis from Tiruvannamalai and Andhra Pradesh and sold it to students.

Four of them had been remanded in judicial custody while the juvenile had been sent to rehabilitation home run by the Social Welfare Department, the police said.
