Encroachments removed in Villianur

Officials of the Revenue department, accompanied by the police personnel, removed encroachments in front of commercial establishments on the Villupuram Road in Villianur on Wednesday.

An official said that shops had encroached upon the platforms up to the end of the road, causing traffic congestion in the area. Almost all shops had encroached on the platforms and the national highway. This hindered the movement of vehicles and resulted in traffic piling up on the road. The Revenue department served notices on the people, asking them to remove the encroachments. But none had responded to notices. The department would continue the drive, he said.
