Members of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the Chief Secretariat demanding the Puducherry Government to order a high level probe into complaints of alleged irregularities in Upper Division Clerk (UDC) examination scheduled on October 25.

Leading the demonstration, R. Siva, former MLA and convenor of DMK (south) said the Government had decided to fill up around 503 posts of UDC.

\Over 35,000 candidates from the Union Territory had applied for the Competitive Examination to be held for Direct Recruitment to the post of Upper Division Clerk (Group 'C' Non-Gazetted, Ministerial).

Mr. Siva said that ruling AINRC MLA and Government whip G. Nehru had come out with startling revelations that ruling party men had allegedly taken bribe assuring candidates of recruitment in UDC. Mr. Nehru had also submitted a complaint to the Assembly Speaker V. Sabapathy in this connection.

He said that the Puducherry Government should have taken the allegations seriously and ordered a probe to keep a vigil on the transparency of the examinations.

Mr. Nehru had come out with revelations on the department which is under the direct control of the Chief Minister.

The Vigilance police should collect all details available with Mr. Nehru and conduct a probe.

The Chief Secretary should immediately intervene and ensure that the UDC examination is conducted in a fair and transparent manner, Mr. Siva added.
