CPI (M) urges AINRC to release white paper

October 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

The Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) has urged the ruling All India NR Congress Government to release a white paper on the steps taken to retrieve several crore worth godowns belonging to government and municipality.

In a statement, CPI-M secretary R.Rajangam said, “For long, allegations have been levelled that over 100 hundred crore worth godowns belonging to the municipality and government were captured by a few politically influential persons. The municipal commissioner’s silence over this issue has been disappointing.”

Funds from France

The CPM leader also pointed out that the Puducherry Municipality Commissioner R.Chandirasekaran stated that a Rs 500 crore fund from France would be coming to the municipality and warned the traders should vacate the encroachments.

Referring to that statement of the municipality commissioner, Mr. Rajangam said Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary have been keeping people in the dark without disclosing such fund.

Tsunami relief

“The ruling government has been deceiving the people as there is no transparency in receiving from the Tsunami relief fund, flood relief fund and other subsidies from the Union Government,” said Mr. Rajangam.
