Amid the stand-off with Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his office in New Delhi on Monday.

Mr. Narayanasamy told The Hindu that he had sought an appointment with the new Home Minister. “It was an opportunity to apprise the Home Minister of the needs of the Union Territory,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he had given a detailed account on the immediate needs of the U.T.

The intervention of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs was sought on reimbursement of amount implementing Seventh Pay Commission Recommendations, waiver of legacy loan, increase in grant-in aid and in bringing the Union Territory under the purview of the Finance Commission.

Asked whether he had raised the issue of power struggle with the Lt. Governor, the Chief Minister said: “I had sought an appointment to discuss financial issues faced by the administration. He gave me an appointment. Nothing to do with the Lt. Governor,” he said
