District Collector L. Subramanian on Monday ordered the detention of a bootlegger under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Goondas and Video Pirates Act.
K. Manavalan, 38, of Karuvampakkam village in Tindivanam, had several cases of illicit liquor smuggling pending against him, police sources said.
The Collector ordered his detention under the Bootleggers Act on a request from Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar. The orders were served on him at the Cuddalore Central Prison.
