Bootlegger detained in Villupuram

Collector L. Subramanian on Sunday ordered detention of a man under The Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders, Slum- Grabbers and Video Pirates Act. The name of the accused was given as Raja alias Marur Raj of Kaveripakkam near Tindivanam.

He had several cases of smuggling of illicit liquor pending against him, police sources said.

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing registered a case and remanded him in custody.

The Collector ordered his detention on a request from Superintendent of Police S. Jayakumar.

The orders were served on him in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
