The Principal Sessions Court on Thursday rejected bail pleas of five dismissed police personnel who were in judicial custody in connection with the child prostitution racket.

V. Yuvaraj, R. Balakrishnan, G. Sankar, M. Selvakumar, G. Panderinathan, who were Inspector, Sub-Inspector of Police and constables respectively in the police department, had in their bail petitions, claimed not guilty. All other accused allegedly involved in the case were released on bail, they added.

They also said their remand has been extended for more than four times since they surrendered in February.

Strongly objecting the bail applications, Special Public Prosecutor N. Vinayagam said the case was heinous in nature. Some more accused have to be arrested.

If the petitioners were released on bail, they were likely to hamper the investigation.

He said, if they are released on bail, there is possibility of them threatening the child victims.”

Principal Sessions Judge P. Velmurugan dismissed the bail petitions.

If they are released on bail, there is a possibility that they will threaten the child victims, says Special Public Prosecutor Vinayagam
