The Government has announced cash award and memento for the best journalist and best photo-journalist every year.
A notification issued by Department of Information and Publicity said, “Government of Puducherry has been celebrating the ‘National Press Day’ year and it has been proposed now to present cash award and memento for the ‘Best Journalist’ and the ‘Best Photo-Journalist’ every year. A sum of Rs.10,000 will be given as cash award in each category.”
The government also notified a scheme for the grant of financial assistance for the purchase of laptop or desktop to media persons of the Union Territory.
It also notified a revised scheme for the grant of pension benefits to the media persons.
