Alliance Francaise centres pool funds for quake victims

The Alliance Francaise centres in the country have pooled in funds and relief equipment in aid of the Nepal earthquake victims.

The Puducherry centre collected over Rs. 80,000 in the fund-raising concert held in the first week of May. It is also contributing Rs. 75,000 from its funds.

The Alliance Francaise in Delhi has purchased 300 tents, while the centre in Kolkata raised Rs. 2 lakh from a music marathon programme it held, said Olivier Litvine, Director, Alliance Francaise in Puducherry.

The Alliance Francaise in Chandigarh organised a concert, and auction sale of art items.

The donations will go to Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the World), an international organisation which provides medical care to vulnerable people, and has been working in the quake affected areas in Nepal.
