The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Friday staged a walkout against the Speaker’s decision not to take up the adjournment motion moved by the party.

After the obituary references were made, A. Anbalagan, AIADMK floor leader, urged the Chair to allow the members to take up the adjournment motion seeking a discussion on non-spending of money earmarked in the budget for grant-in aid and salary to employees in public sector under takings and societies.

He said even after the House had given expenditure sanction, the money was not utilised for providing grant-in aid and salary.

‘Give reasons’

The AIADMK leader said the House should be informed of the reason for not implementing its decision.

If the Lt. Governor had stalled the government’s move, there was no need to present the State budget in future.

Persistent demand

Although the Chief Minister agreed to discuss the issue after taking up the resolution on Mekedatu, the AIADMK MLAs insisted on taking up the adjournment motion first.

After Speaker V. Viathilingam refused to allow tabling of the motion, the members of the party staged a walkout.
