Talks between leaders of DMDK and People’s Welfare Front failed to make any headway on Wednesday.
The DMDK has been sticking to its demand for seats of its choice. PWF convener R.Viswanathan convened a meeting of leaders on Wednesday to hammer out a solution to the problem.
But still no agreement was reached on Wednesday.
Seat allotment
The leaders of the PWF last week had decided to allot eight seats to CPI, seven to VCK, four each to CPI (M) and MDMK and one to RSP while leaving four seats to DMDK.
R.Selvaraj, DMDK organiser said, “There was no amicable solution to the seat-sharing but we are not going to contest alone. We are very much in the alliance.”
The PWF, comprising Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and the DMDK t are in an alliance for the May 16 elections.
