“Windy blues and sepia tinted urbanscapes – there is a dramatic tilt to his paintings where the feeling of mastering the accidental effect is felt,” describes Kirti Chandak, founder of TASMAI art gallery, while talking about the paintings by artist Nadees Prabou.

Exhibited at TASMAI Centre for Art and Culture, the paintings of Mr.Prabou depict the urbanscapes in water colours. Titled ‘Abstract Urbanscapes in Watercolour’, Nadees’, colours seem to melt on the paper, balancing areas of virgin-white paper with spontaneous strokes. Nearly 30 water colour paintings on canson paper were exhibited for public view at the TASMAI art gallery.

An artist determined to use water-colour, he first exhibited his paintings at the Alliance Francaise in Puducherry in his third year in college.

Mr. Prabou, who completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Bharathiar Palkalaikoodam in Puducherry, is free-lancing as an artist.

Hailing from Puducherry, he moved to Chennai in 2000 to work as a concept artist for movies. His work has inspired him immensely in creating surreal atmospheres which is the hallmark of his paintings. His painting borders on almost abstractions which are unique to the water colours medium. Though the exhibition was held from January 4 to February 3, the paintings will be open to public view for another two months at the TASMAI Centre for Art and Culture in Kuruchikuppam.
