A majority of the candidates who appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this Sunday in Puducherry found Biology and Chemistry papers easy and rated Physics paper tough.

Premanath, who wrote the entrance examination at the Kendriya Vidyalaya Campus I on JIPMER premises, said the Biology paper was very easy when compared to Physics. “However, overall I would rate the examination this year as moderate when compared to last year,” said Premanath, who wrote the entrance examination second time.

S.Abirami from Neyveli, who aims to be a gynaecologist, added that the Biology paper was the easiest. “I did all the papers well. Physics was a little tough though it was better compared to last year. I hope to clear the exams this year,” she said.

A total of 8,894 candidates appeared for the NEET in 12 examination centres across Puducherry.

While a few candidates from the neighbouring districts of Tamil Nadu including Villupuram and Cuddalore accompanied by their parents and family members reached the examination centres a day before the examination, a majority of candidates reached the centres early Sunday morning.

After the candidates left to write the examination, parents waited outside for three hours. Later, they thronged the gates in anticipation to know their children’s performance.

Andal, a native of Puducherry, said that her daughter Vishnupriya wanted to become a neurologist after her father died of brain tumour. “She attended the coaching classes to prepare for NEET in her school. I am confident she will clear the examination,” she said while waiting outside the gate of the examination centre to receive her daughter. While the parents waited for three hours outside, private coaching centres had their leaflets and brouchers ready to be distributed to the parents. They even waited till the students finished their examination to give them printed materials about NEET coaching centres in Puducherry and information to study MBBS abroad.
