A popular YouTuber from Mumbai died after his car lost control and toppled over in Mankhurd in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the Mankhurd police, the deceased has been identified as Danish Zehen (21). Danish was known for his videos on YouTube and also for participating in reality television show Ace Of Space , where participants from all over the country live together and compete with each other to win.

Danish, a resident of Kurla, was driving home from Navi Mumbai along with his cousin brother Shehzad Sayyed (23) when the incident occurred on the Sion Panvel highway around 12.30 a.m.. “The car was moving at a high speed when it lost control and hit a rock on the road, causing it to topple over. It crashed into an electricity pole and came to a halt. Danish was thrown out of the car and sustained multiple injuries,” senior police inspector Nitin Bobade, Mankhurd police station, said.

Mr. Sayyed, who suffered minor injuries, took Danish to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Hospital in Vashi with the help of some eyewitnesses, where Danish was declared dead before admission. “Inquiries have not thrown up any indications of Danish being under the influence of alcohol. We are awaiting reports of blood sample analysis,” Mr. Bobade said.

The police have posthumously booked Danish for causing injury and endangering life due to rash and negligent driving under the Indian Penal Code and various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Danish started his YouTube career in 2012 by uploading videos of his rap songs after which his channel became famous. Danish’s videos ranged from vlogging, hairstyling, and fitness to rapping. He would also perform live as a rapper and a dancer.

After news of Danish’s death broke, his fans and housemates paid tribute to him by posting videos and pictures of him on social media. The creator of Ace Of Space , Vikas Gupta, also wrote a note on Instagram expressing sorrow.
