Woman killed in fire in Borivali

One woman died and another was hospitalised due to a fire that broke out in a residential building in Borivali on Saturday.

The fire brigade was alerted at 5.14 p.m. “The fire broke out in the electric meter box of Dharmakshetra building near Reliance Mall. It was brought under control by 5.32 p.m.,” an officer said.

Two women staying on the ground floor were rushed to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali.

Jaya Gharasiya (55) was declared dead before admission, while Laxmi Yarola (35) is now stable. Doctors said Gharasiya had no injuries. She died of severe smoke inhalation.

The Borivali police are in the process of registering an accidental death report in the incident.
