The Vashi police have registered a case of rape against an unidentified man after parents of a nine-year-old girl approached them saying she was sexually abused on Tuesday in the school.

The parents informed the police after the mother noticed a minor injury and bleeding in the child’s private parts.

“The parents took her to a private doctor on Tuesday evening, who informed them that it needs to be reported to the police as she has been sexually abused. The mother asked the girl, who told her the incident took place in school,” an official from Vashi police station said.

Incident at school

As per the complaint registered by her mother, the girl was entering the school in Sector 15, Vashi, from the back gate when an unidentified man stuffed a piece of cloth in her mouth and dragged her to the toilet meant for the watchman.

The complaint further says that the man, who was wearing brown trousers and a pink T-shirt, blindfolded the girl and sexually abused her. He later threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident.

According to the police, the girl is disturbed and has not been able to say much to the police. “Since she is very young, we are unable to ask her anything. She also looks quite disturbed. We are verifying the incident and are looking for CCTV footage nearby,” the official said.

The accused has been booked for rape, criminal intimidation and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
