Two injured in Vashi bridge collapse

A small portion of the foot overbridge connecting Mini seashore and Sagar Vihar at Sector 7 in Vashi collapsed on Thursday evening. Two residents of Vashi identified as Jitendra Subhedar Pal and his associate Parvez Pal were injured in the incident that occurred around 7.45 p.m..

“Both are admitted to the NMMC hospital and are out of danger. Their relatives have been informed. This bridge is rarely used by commuters and is not connected to any main road,” Sudhakar Pathare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone I, said. The duo fell on ground from a height of 20 feet and have sustained fractures.

“I am at Uttar Pradesh for election duty. I got to know about the incident and have asked for a detailed report. The bridge came under the jurisdiction of the NMMC,” NMMC Commissioner N. Ramaswami said. The Vashi police have made a note of the incident and are investigating.
