Mumbai: Three people were injured in a gas cylinder blast in Vikhroli on Monday. All three were admitted to Rajawadi Hospital and one of them is critical.

The incident occurred in a garage for refilling gas cylinders at Kannamwar Nagar no. 2 around 3 p.m.. The garage stored CNG/LPG cylinders, and it is suspected that one of the cylinders leaked, resulting in an explosion. The injured have been identified as Shankar Thakur (44), Surendra Patil (35), and Paresh Rathod (28).

All three were labourers working in the garage at the time. Mr. Thakur sustained around 80% burns and is critical. Mr. Patil and Mr. Rathod sustained around 35% burns and are stable.

Three fire engines were pressed into service. “We doused the fire immediately. We gathered from onlookers about the gas leak. We will record the statements of the injured soon,” a senior fire officer said.
