Tender floated for 47 air conditioned locals

The Integral Coach Factory floated a tender for 47 AC trains of 12 coaches on Friday. R.S. Khurana, chairman and managing director of Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation, said the tender would be opened on November 5. Four rakes are expected to be commissioned in 2019-2020, after which they will undergo checks for technical deficiencies. MRVC has been the nodal agency in procuring the train sets, which is a part of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project 3, for which the Railway Board sanctioned ₹519 crore this year. These AC rakes will be in addition to the ones being built by the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.
