A 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her home in Bandra, reportedly over relationship issues with her boyfriend, on Tuesday.
According to the Bandra police, Prachi Kashyap (19) was originally from Assam and was staying with her uncle on S.V. Road while pursuing a course in mass media. She took the extreme step when her uncle was not home.
“The girl had made a video call to her boyfriend and informed him that she was ending her life. Kashyap’s boyfriend then informed the police and rushed to the girl’s house with his friend. The duo and the police took the girl to Bhabha Hospital where doctors declared her dead before admission,” senior police inspector Vijaylaxmi Hiremath, Bandra police station, said.
She said Kashyap told her boyfriend that she was taking the extreme step as he was not coming to meet her. “No suspicious facts have come to light in the investigation so far. We have registered an accidental death report.”
