Seven gold bars seized from Jet Airways aircraft

Mumbai: Officers of the Air Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai airport customs on Wednesday recovered seven gold bars weighing 6.99 kg, which is valued at ₹1.89 crore, from a Jet Airways aircraft.

V. Rama Mathew, Commissioner of Customs, said the gold bars were recovered from flight 9W-579 which had arrived from Dubai. “The gold bars were wrapped in an adhesive material and were seized under the Customs Act, 1962. Investigations are on,” Ms. Mathew said in a release.
