Seaman dies after being injured during firing drill

Mohan Raj (21), a Seaman First Class of the Indian Navy serving onboard INS Gomati, succumbed to injuries sustained while carrying out combat weapon firing drills at sea. The sailor was airlifted to INHS Asvini in Colaba by a Seaking helicopter. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of death. Raj hailed from Katpadi in Tamil Nadu and is survived by his parents and two siblings.
