Bollywood actor Preity Zinta who had lodged a complaint against her former boyfriend Ness Wadia accusing him of intimidation and molestation at the Wankhede stadium on May 30th, arrived in the city on Sunday morning.

After lodging the complaint through her lawyer earlier this month, the actress had left for the USA. But with her initial statement lacking many details of the incident, the police wanted Ms. Zinta to record her subsequent statement in the case.

A police officer told The Hindu that many details were missing from the initial statement. “In her complaint she has not mentioned the exact location where Mr. Wadia allegedly grabbed her hand and abused her. In her complaint she also states that Mr. Wadia abused the staff members of her team and had used unparliamentary language against her in the ground. She needs to locate the various spots in the stadium where she was allegedly manhandled and abused,” he said.

In her complaint Ms. Zinta had alleged she was manhandled once and abused thrice by Mr. Wadia at different locations in the stadium.

Subsequently the police had summoned her through her lawyer to either record the statement by the end of the week or give a convenient date when she could be available to record her statement in person.

Another senior police officer told The Hindu that after the Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria spoke to the actress on Wednesday, she agreed to return from the USA and record her subsequent statement.

The police will also conduct a spot panchanama along with independent witnesses. The statement will be recorded by an Assistant Commissioner of Police rank officer in presence of a junior female police officer.

“The statement can be recorded at her residence or a hotel or at the police station. The decision will be taken in tandem by the investigating officer and the complainant,” Additional Commissioner of Police, Krishna Prakash told The Hindu .

“The actress will however be required to accompany the police while conducting a spot pamchanama, where she would be required by the police to identify the spot where the incidents took place,” the officer added.
