Senior BJP leaders Harshvardhan Patil and Ashish Shelar visited Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, admitted to Lilavati Hospital, on Tuesday. Mr. Raut had tweeted a couplet earlier in the morning about keeping up the fight and a picture released on social media shows him sitting up and writing from his hospital bed.

In the middle of hectic political activities on Monday, Mr. Raut was taken to the hospital as he complained of chest pain. He later underwent an angioplasty.

Mr. Raut spent the night in Intensive Care Unit and was shifted to the ward at 7 a.m. on Tuesday. “He is stable and has been meeting people, watching the news on the television and carrying out a lot of paperwork,” said a doctor adding that they have advised him to go easy. “He is most likely to be discharged on Wednesday,” he said. Mr. Raut was detected with two severe heart blockages and he was implanted with three stents on Monday evening. The procedure was carried out by interventional cardiologist Dr. Ajit Menon.

On Tuesday morning, Mr. Raut tweeted a couplet by Harivanshrai Bachchan about continuing effort and said, “We will succeed, definitely”. Pictures also did rounds on social media where Mr. Raut is seen sitting up on his hospital bed and writing on a piece of paper, possibly the editorial for Sena mouthpiece Saamana .

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray told reporters later in the day that Mr. Raut is recuperating.

The visit by Mr. Patil and Mr. Shelar triggered some speculation about Sena, BJP alliance, but Mr. Shelar called it a courtesy visit and said there was no political angle to it.
