No clean chit to Patekar: Tanushree’s lawyer

Actor Tanushree Dutta’s lawyer, Nitin Satpute, said on Friday that actor Nana Patekar has not received a clean chit in the sexual harassment case filed against him by Ms. Dutta.

Mr. Satpute, addressing a press conference, said Mr. Patekar’s public relations team was spreading false information in an attempt to clean up the actor’s image. “Since the sexual harassment case has been filed against him, he is not getting any acting assignments and films in the industry. To get work, his PR team is trying to do damage control and keep his public image intact,” Mr. Satpute claimed.

Ms. Dutta had on Thursday released a press release refuting the rumour that no witness could support her version of the story and that Mr. Patekar had been given a clean chit.

Mr. Satpute said that while no summary report or charge sheet has been filed against the Mr. Patekar, the actor and his supporters were pressurising key witnesses, hampering the investigation.

“We will move an application to the police to take appropriate action against the accused and his team. Meanwhile, as the investigation process has been slowed down, we are trying our best to approach the key witnesses, which will change the entire scenario of the case. The ‘Me Too’ movement sparked off when Ms. Dutta filed an FIR against Patekar. Those who have committed the crime should also pay for it,” Mr. Satpute said.

Senior police inspector Shailesh Pasalwar from the Oshiwara police station that no clean chit has been given to the accused and their investigation is still under way.
