May 11, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - MUMBAI:

Parents of students of IES Padmakar Dhamdhere English Medium Primary School at Dadar (E) on Tuesday staged a protest against the 100 per cent hike in fees the school has announced. They said the fees had shot up from Rs 23,000 in 2013-14 to nearly Rs 42,000 in 2014-15, and have reached Rs 46,000 this year. They also said as per the rule, schools can increase the fees by up to 15 per cent every two years.

While the school management refused to comment, the parents said the fees were imposed without any notice and that they were expected to pay the full amount in a day. They said they have been protesting for the past 10 days and will continue the agitation until the hike is rolled back. The parents also said the school has levied Rs 15,000 as development fee. The school has failed to respond to their queries, they said.
