Seventeen policemen from Mumbai and two from Thane will be awarded the President’s Medal this year.
While two will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, the others will receive the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service. According to official sources, the two officers who will receive the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service are Joint Commissioner of Police Atulchandra Kulkarni, Mumbai Crime Branch, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Shashikant Surve, Colaba division, Mumbai.
Those receiving the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service include Special Inspector General of Police Vinay Kargaonkar, Sales Tax, Maharashtra, Additional Commissioner of Police (west region) Chhering Dorje, Mumbai, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Jambhulkar, Armed Police, Mumbai and ACP Nagesh Lohar, Thane police.
The list also includes several personnel from Inspector to Constable level from various police stations and units such as the State Intelligence Department and the Anti Terrorism Squad in Mumbai.
