A shot in the arm

The election of senior Congress leader Narayan Rane to the State council has brought a sigh of relief to the party, which was always defensive in the upper house.

For the first time in the last one-and-a-half years, the party seems to have overpowered the NCP in the council, thanks to Mr. Rane and his fiery speech.

Last week, in a special one-day session of the council, Mr. Rane minced no words when he snubbed NCP’s Sunil Tatkare for his speech which was full of praises for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Jokes are doing the rounds in the legislative building that the Congress will be using Mr. Rane to settle its score with the NCP and not the BJP.
