Heavy security has been deployed at the domestic airport in Mumbai where the body of Yakub Memon, the lone convict of the 1993 serial blasts who was hanged this morning, is set to arrive for burial around noon.
Armed police personnel and teams of the Central Industrial Security Force, some in bullet proof vests, are stationed at various points at the airport turning it into a fortress.
A dedicated team of nearly 15 security personnel are guarding the 'Arrival' gate for passengers and the terminal where the body would be received.
Riot control vehicles and police vans have also been pressed into service.
Yakub's family members who had flown to Nagpur on Wednesday will be arriving with his body, which will be taken to their residence in Mahim in central Mumbai.
