Justice Dama Seshadri Naidu of Kerala High Court will be appointed judge of the Bombay High Court after the collegium recommends his transfer.

On September 22, 2017, the Collegium consisting of then Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, and Justices Ranjan Gogoi, A.K. Sikri, S.A. Bobde, and N.V. Ramana had, in the interest of better administration of justice, recommended repatriation of Justice Naidu to High Court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh (A.P.). However, the recent resolution has suggested his transfer to Bombay.

“In supercession of the above recommendations, the Collegium resolves to recommend that Justice Naidu be transferred to Bombay HC instead of being repatriated to his parent High Court at AP,” it said.

Justice Naidu was born on June 19, 1962 at Ganganagunta, near Tirupati, Chittoor district, AP. He graduated from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and obtained his law degree from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati.

He enrolled as member of Bar Council of AP in March 1997, and started his practice at Tirupati in Civil and Criminal branches of law. He later shifted to the High Court of AP and took up both civil and criminal cases in Hyderabad. He has also represented many corporate entities and nationalised banks.

Justice Naidu is associated with AP Judicial Academy, Hyderabad as a guest faculty and has authored a few law books such as Law of Stamp Duty and Registration in AP and the AP Education Code.

He was elevated as Additional Judge of the High Court of AP on September 21, 2013 and sworn in as a judge of the Kerala HC on June 30, 2014. He was sworn in as a permanent judge of the HC at Hyderabad for Telangana and AP on March 3, 2016.

After his appointment in Bombay, the strength of HC judges will increase to 71. However, the high court is still short by 23 as the sanctioned strength is 94.
