Jewellery worth ₹25 lakh stolen from Sena leader’s house

Up to 86 tola gold and cash ₹2.5 lakh in cash was stolen on Friday night from Shiv Sena leader Vijay Chougule’s house in Navi Mumbai, the police said on Saturday. Mr. Chougule’s house help, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, has emerged as the key suspect.

Mr. Chougule filed a complaint with Rabale police on Saturday morning. “The CCTV footage shows Mr. Chougule’s house help Anurag Singh making away with the valuables when Mr. Chougule and his family members were not at home,” Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Tidaar from Rabale Police station said. A police team has left for U.P.

The accused had neen working at the Chougule household for eight years. Police said Mr. Chougule’s grandmother was always at home but on Friday night she had gone to hospital.
